If any dog shows symptoms of ill health, that dog is immediately isolated, and the owner contacted. We, the owner and I, mutually decide the best course of action for the sick dog, balanced against the needs of all the dogs here in my care. If it is determined the dog remains in my care, medical board rates apply for the remainder of the stay as well as any costs associated with vet visits. If the illness is potentially contagious, that dog remains in the “Sick Bay” isolation area for the safety of all the other dogs. Before the dog can leave Sick Bay, a vet must determine the dog does not pose any health risks to the other dogs.
