The Basics

On a Trial Day, dogs get to meet the other dogs they’ll be staying with. They become familiar with me and my home and at the end of the day they get picked up. This helps dogs feel relaxed when they come for a boarding stay. They already have doggie friends and they know they will be picked up.

Trial Days also provide an opportunity for me to assess your dog. This helps ensure all dogs coming to The Bark & Call Inn are safe with me and other dogs in a group setting. While Trial Days are an excellent tool, dog’s personalities are not static and experiences outside The Bark & Call Inn can impact long-term behavior. Even after a successful Trial Day, dogs will be dismissed who exhibit behavior that is not suitable for The Bark & Call Inn.

Learning Your Dog

Trial Days are key to letting me get to know your dog. I want to understand the full scope of your dog’s personality. This allows me to group your dog with playmates he’ll make life-long friends with. It means I will know his sleeping habits, energy levels and rest requirements during play. I will know when he needs a quiet place, some extra attention or more playtime. The cornerstone of The Bark & Call Inn’s success is deep knowledge of each individual dog. The Trial Day is the first step in that process.

Building Trust

Just as important as my knowing your dog, it is equally important that your dog know me. For dogs to feel safe, they need to trust the humans they are with. I work to earn each dog’s trust through kindness, awareness of their needs, attention to their signals and respecting their boundaries. Trial Days are also your dog’s first step in getting to know me.

After your dog’s successful Trial Day, you are free to schedule Daycare and Boarding Stays.
